REPUBLIC BANK (GUYANA) LIMITED WINS AWARD
FOR BUSINESS EXCELLENCE IN WORKPLACE PROGRAMMES ON HIV/AIDS  

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited were presented with the top Award for Business Excellence: Workplace Programme at the 3rd Annual Award for Business Excellence, on Saturday June 20th 2009 hosted by the Guyana Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS at the Pegasus Hotel Guyana.

The award was given in response to the Bank’s demonstrated commitment to addressing HIV/AIDS and combating stigma and discrimination in the workplace through the implementation of HIV/AIDS policies and programmes.

Republic Bank’s workplace prevention education programmes were conducted across the Bank’s network reaching in excess of 579 staff and contracted persons. The Bank also partnered with NGOs across Guyana, among these the ILO, GRPA, Linden Care foundation, the FACT Group – Berbice and Hope for All, Essequibo. The Bank collaborated with these entities on Social Issue Seminars on HIV/AIDS and related topics, and condom distribution.

Mrs. Jannis London, Officer-in-Charge, Human Resources-Training and the HIV/AIDS Focal Person, received the award on behalf of Republic Bank. The award was presented by the Honourable Minister of Labour Mr. Manzoor Nadir. Other Republic Bank representatives in attendance were Manager Human Resources Mrs. Anita Mohabeer and other Republic Bank HIV/AIDS Peer Educators.
