Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited awards RightStart Account Holders for their outstanding performance at the National Grade Six Assessment Examination – 2009

On Monday, September 14, 2009, Republic Bank rewarded six of its top seven RightStart Account Holders who excelled at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment Examination. The simple ceremony was held at Queens College. The seventh recipient was honored on Monday, September 21, 2009 in Anna Regina.

The students of Queens College and one from the Anna Regina Multilateral School, were recently rewarded with Republic RightStart Gift Certificates totaling $10,000.00 for their outstanding performance.

The recipients are Lasissa Wiltshire - 567, Samathra Rocke - 565, Jenelle Geness – 558,
 Aanisah Bacchus – 554, Jamel Ramsook – 554, Shinisa Bacchus – 554 and Bayeeshmaal Ramsundar – 554.

Mr. Ernest Ford captured the first consolation prize of a Digital Camera in the Republic Visa Travel Money ‘JetAway’ Promotion offered at Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited.

The winner was announced at a prize draw held at our Water Street Branch on
September 03rd, 2009.

The VTM “JetAway” Campaign was launched on July 15, 2009 and allows customers a chance to enter the competition with every purchase of US$50.00 loaded on to a new or existing VTM card.

The competition is scheduled to run for three months and there are still two more consolation prizes to be won followed by a grand prize draw of an ‘All inclusive 3-day weekend trip for  two (2) to Trinidad’.

The promotion concludes on October 15, 2009.

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited hosted a Sod Turning Ceremony at the premises identified for the construction of a new branch at Plantation, Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara on Thursday, August 27, 2009.

Honourary Guests in attendance included the Honourable Dr. Ashni Singh, Minister of Finance; Mr. Lawrence Williams, Governor of the Bank of Guyana along with Members of the Board of Directors, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited.

Formal opening of the new Anna Regina Branch

The formal opening of the new Anna Regina Branch at Lot 8 Public Road Anna Regina took place on Saturday, August 22, 2009.

In the early afternoon proceedings, The Guest of Honor, The Honourable Samuel A. Hinds Prime Minister of the Republic of Guyana offered the Feature Address and performed the symbolic opening by the Cutting of the Ribbon and Unveiling of the Plaque.

The programme also included Welcome and Opening Remarks by Mr. Edwin H. Gooding, Managing Director- Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited; the Board of Directors’ Address by Mr. John G. Carpenter, Member of the Board of Directors and Closing Remarks were made by Mr. John N. Alves , Corporate Secretary – Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited.

Prayers and Blessings were said by representatives of the Christian, Hindu and Muslim communities.

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited launched the Republic VISA OneCard, a Visa branded International Debit Card on  Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Grand Savannah Suit, Pegasus Hotel Guyana.

This is the first international debit card offered in Guyana and Republic Bank (Guyana) is the first among the Republic Bank Group to introduce the card. The Republic VISA OneCard allows cardholders access to their account(s) from anywhere in the world where VISA is accepted, including ATM’s Debit Point-of-Sales and on-line merchants.
