On December 22, 2009, Editors and Reporters of Media Houses were hosted at a special Media Luncheon at the Cara Lodge Hotel.
This initiative by Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited was in appreciation of the Bank’s relations with the media and a simple thank you for the past year. In attendance were Executives, the Manager-Marketing and Communications along with the Communications Team of the Marketing Department. Special Guest Speaker was retired United Nations Official and veteran broadcaster Mr. Hugh Cholmondeley.
Deeds Of Covenant Presentation
On Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 10:30hrs, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited hosted the Deeds of Covenant Presentations at its Head Office, Promenade Court, 155-156 New Market Street, Georgetown.
The brief programme included the presentation of gifts and a Corporate Greeting from the Managing Director, Mr. Edwin H. Gooding.
Presentations were made to Guyana Red Cross Society, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, St. Ann's Orphanage, St. John Bosco Orphanage, Nazareth Home, Byer Senior Citizens Home, Archers Home, Gentle Women's Home, Uncle Eddie's Home for Senior Citizens, Radio's Needy Children's Fund, Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre, Dharm Shala Home for the Indigent.
Republic Bank Hands Over The Keys In The Deal On Wheels Loan Campaign

Leonard Bacchus, the winner of the Grand Prize in the Republic Bank Deal on Wheels Loan Promotion, was presented with the keys to the fully loaded Nissan Cube by the Bank’s Managing Director Mr. Edwin Gooding on October 23, 2009. Present were the family of Leonard Bacchus, members of the Republic Bank staff and the media. The presentation took place on the grounds of the Bank’s Training and Development Centre, 174 Waterloo Street, North Cummingsburg
This marked the culmination of a three month loan campaign which began on June 29, 2009 and ended on September 18, 2009. Customers who participated, benefited from reduced equity contributions and extended payback periods.
Each of the over 400 customer who obtained loans to purchase either a motorcar or motorcycle during this campaign, had an opportunity to win the fully loaded Cube. Bacchus, from Christianburg Linden, was selected the lucky winner at a draw held on October 12, 2009.
Anil and Devina’s Auto Sales, was also awarded at the ceremony. They were declared the winners of the Merchant Prize of $100,000 (one hundred thousand dollars) for being the Auto Dealership from which Leonard Bacchus purchased a car during the Deal on Wheels Campaign.

Customer Care Launch
Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited launched Customer Care on November 26, 2009. The launch coincided with our Customer Appreciation Day across the network.
The Republic Bank Customer Care initiative is our open promise to the customer to provide optimal satisfaction at every interaction. This will translate into an increased level of customer satisfaction that will see the Bank creating open and easily accessible channels to listen to our customers so we may better understand their needs and expectations.
Each branch will display this commitment via in-branch merchandising. Customers will also to able to provide on the spot feedback on the quality of the service received via comment cards that will be available at all in-branch customer contact points.
A special Customer Care Webpage will be accessible via our website which expresses the Bank’s commitment to provide optimal satisfaction, provides an avenue to address any shortfall in service, provide feedback on the quality of our customer care or on our products and services and leave any comments or compliments.

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited awards Right Start Account Holders for their outstanding performance at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examination – 2009
On Wednesday, November 25, 2009 Republic Bank made formal presentations at Promenade Court, Head Office to the top four RightStart Account Holders.
The top four recipients of this year’s award are as follows:

Republic Bank Steel Band Arrangers’ Workshop
On Monday, November 16, 2009 Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport officially launched the Republic Bank Steel Band Arrangers' Workshop 2009 at the Carifesta Sports Complex, Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown at 15:30h.
Members of Schools, Churches, Joint Services and Private Bandswill be exposed to practical training in a one-week session facilitated by Mr. Ray Holman, a renowned composer, arranger and steel drum performer from Trinidad and Tobago. The workshop concludes on November 24, 2009.
The official Opening Ceremony included a Feature Address by the Honourable Dr. Frank Anthony, Minister of Culture Youth and Sport and the Sponsor's Address was delivered by Mr. Edwin H. Gooding.
This initiative forms part of our Power to Make a Difference outreach for steel pan development in Guyana and aims to offer participants the Power to Learn and Succeed.
Youth Link Apprenticeship Programme 2009/2010 Launch
The second annual Republic Bank Youth Link Apprenticeship Programme was launched at a simple ceremony on, Monday, October 26, 2009, at 15:00h at our Head Office, Promenade Court, 155-156 New Market Street, Georgetown.
A batch of twenty-three Youth Link Apprentices and their guests along with Heads of Schools, Government Officials, Directors and members of staff of Republic Bank were present to mark the occasion.
The programme featured Ms. Patricia Gittens, Child Protection Officer, UNICEF who delivered the main address, while the Bank's Executive Management also delivered addresses. Mrs. Anita Mohabeer, Manager, Human Resources officiated the event.
Power to Make a Difference Academic Achievement Awards Presentation
On Monday, October 12, 2009 at 15:30hrs, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited hosted a presentation ceremony in honour of the top achievers for the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) Larissa Wiltshire; Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) Kia Persaud and Wainella Isaacs for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) for 2009. The presentation took place at the RBL Camp Street Branch, 78-80 Robb and Camp Streets, Georgetown.
As part of the bank’s tradition, the top achievers for the examinations mentioned above were awarded through the Bank's Power to Make a Difference community outreach initiative. Monetary gifts and a plaque were presented to the awardees in the presence of Mr. Roopnarine Tewari, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Ministry of Education and Mr. Edwin H. Gooding, Managing Director, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited Directors, Executives, parents and members of staff.

VTM ‘JetAway’ Promotion Winners Receive Their Prizes
Winners in the VTM ‘Jet Away’ Promotion received their prizes on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at a simple ceremony held at RBL Promenade Court, Georgetown.
The Grand Prize Winner is Mr. Norvell Fredricks of Mackenzie, Linden who will enjoy an “All inclusive trip for two to Trinidad” - airline tickets compliments of Caribbean Airlines.
Mr. Cletus Smith of Linden Highway received the second prize of US $500 loaded onto his VTM Card and Mr. Vishvanauth Doerga of Corentyne, Berbice has won a “Trip for Two to Baganara Island Resort”
The consolation prize winner for the month of October is Mr. Donovan Yaw of Campbellville, Georgetown who received his prize of a digital camera.
The VTM ‘Jet Away’ Promotion commenced on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 and the final drawing was held at the Water Street Branch on Thursday October 29, 2009.
This campaign offered VTM card holders the opportunity to win, with every purchase of US $50 loaded on to a new or existing VTM card. The Visa Travel Money card is a prepaid debit card which is loaded in US Dollars. This product offers controlled spending and would not incur any interest fees.
We encourage the public to take advantage of this card as an alternative to cash for local spending, when traveling overseas or for business needs.
Winners of the Visa Travel Money ‘JetAway’ Promotion
Norville Fredericks of 600 Baruda Oval, Retrieve, Linden captured the first prize of a Three day weekend trip for two to Trinidad in the Republic Visa TravelMoney ‘JetAway’ Promotion offered at Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited. The second prize of US$500 to be loaded on to a VTM Card, went to Celtus Smith of 41 Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke, Linden while the third prize of a trip for two to Baganara Resort was won by Vishvanath Doerga of 78 Corriverton, Corentyne, Berbice.
The final monthly draw preceded the Grand Prize draw with Donovan Yaw of 15 Middleton Street, Georgetown being the third winner of a Digital Camera. Entries were pulled at prize drawings held at the Bank’s Water Street Branch on October 29, 2009.
The VTM “JetAway” Campaign, which was launched on July 15, 2009, ended on October 15, 2009 and allowed customers a chance to enter the competition with every purchase of US$50.00 loaded on to a new or existing VTM card.
Republic Visa Travel Money ‘JetAway’ Promotion Winner

Mr. Niranjan Janki captured the second consolation prize of a Digital Camera in the Republic Visa Travel Money ‘JetAway’ Promotion offered at Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited. Mr. Niranjan Janki’s name was pulled at a prize draw held at the Bank’s Camp Street Branch on September 22, 2009.
Mrs. Surpattie Janki received the prize on behalf of her son, Mr. Niranjan Janki at the Bank’s Anna Regina Branch on October 1, 2009.
The VTM “JetAway” Campaign was launched on July 15, 2009 and allows customers a chance to enter the competition with every purchase of US$50.00 loaded on to a new or existing VTM card.
The competition is scheduled to run for three months and there is still one more consolation prize to be won followed by a grand prize draw of an ‘All inclusive 3-day weekend trip for two (2) to Trinidad’.
The promotion concludes on October 15, 2009.
