Republic Bank Awards Top 2011 CSEC and CAPE Performers

Republic Bank recognizes the importance of our youth and embraces the value of education in our national development.

As part of the Bank's tradition of educational outreach, the top achievers for the annual national examinations are rewarded through the Power to Make a Difference community initiative; the Power to Learn and Succeed.

Under this arm of the Power to Make a Difference Programme, Republic Bank has continued its focus on youth empowerment, showcasing the potential of our young achievers.

Anuradha Dev and Kia Persaud, the Top Achievers for the 2011 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) were the guests of honour at a special presentation ceremony on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited Head Office, New Market Street, Georgetown. Monetary gifts and plaques were presented to the awardees.

At a previous ceremony held in Linden on July 07, 2011, Terron Alleyne, the top achiever at this year's 2011 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) was also honoured by the Bank.

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited Rewards Top Rightstart Account Holders for Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate 2011


Awardees with Senior Management of Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited.

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited continues to stand firm in its commitment of being the Bank of Choice not only to staff and stockholders but also to one of its valuable assets - its customers. Embracing this mission, a special ceremony to reward the top five RightStart Account Holders who excelled at this year's Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate was hosted on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at its Head Office, Promenade Court.

Education, self development and youth empowerment are held in high regard at this Organisation which has over the years recognized the academic achievements of its account holders at different levels.

During the ceremony, Anuradha Dev, Mariesa Jagnanan, Nicholas Koylass, Cassandra Jaikaran and Ajay Persaud were each honoured and rewarded with a RightStart Gift Certificate valued $20,000 and a special Republic RightStart Gift.

The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited commend the recipients for their exceptional achievement and wish them continued success.

Youth Link Apprenticeship Launch 2011/2012

Republic Bank embraces another batch of Apprentices under its Power to Make a Difference umbrella, the Power to Learn and Succeed

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited’s Youth Link Apprenticeship Programme entered its fourth year at the launch held on Thursday, October 21, 2011 at the Pegasus Hotel Guyana, Seawall Road, Kingston, Georgetown. The programme commenced at 16:00h.

The Republic Bank Youth Link Apprenticeship Programme started over two decades ago at Republic Bank Limited, Trinidad and Tobago. It was introduced primarily to bridge the gap between the end of the participants’ school life and the start of their career. The programme was designed to offer youths the tools and insights that one can only get on the job and to enable them to be more marketable in their career pursuits.

It is also geared to guide the apprentices through a process of personal and professional development and will include facets that when combined, will teach then valuable skills for professional and social growth.

The Programme was first introduced in Guyana in 2008 and over the past three years sixty-six youths enjoyed the experience of being part of the working world over a seven month period.

The 2011/2012 Programme welcomed a new batch of twenty-six Apprentices who over the next seven months will be exposed to both classroom and on-the-job training. They will also, through the ‘Care-A-Van’ be introduced to the element of care and compassion for the less fortunate. A day of fun and relaxation at a specially selected location will also be part the Youth Link Experience.

Republic Bank Commercial Customer Business Programme 2011

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited embraces the business needs of its Commercial Customers through the Commercial Customer Business Programme.

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited's collaboration with the University of West Indies, Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business saw the fruition of the second Republic Bank Commercial Customer Business Programme.

The programme which first started in September 2010 was designed to prepare participants for successful planning, organizing, and operating small to medium sized businesses in various sectors within the economy.

Through this venture, Republic Bank seeks to create a vibrant network of business professionals equipping them with the tools to enhance their businesses and improve productivity.

To this end, the specially selected customers benefited from training aimed at improving their ability to assess and understand the business environment, effectively drive business strategy and implementation, financial management tips and techniques and marketing in the face of new challenges.

The programme was held every Wednesday at Republic Bank's Head Office, Promenade Court over a five week period from September 21, 2011 to October 19, 2011.

The seminar's facilitator, Mr. Claudville D. Mc Garrell is an Economist and Marketing Specialist whose career has spanned many decades both locally and abroad.

The Closing Ceremony was held on October 19, 2011 where the 12 participants received certificates.

Deal on Wheels Cash Prize Draw


Customer Ms. Mignon Gorrick facilitated the prize draw with the help of Ms. Alison Barkie, Marketing Specialist- Retail Credit and Residential Mortgages, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited along with other staff members from the Bank who witnessed the event.

The Republic Bank Deal on Wheels Loan Campaign Cash Prize Draw was held on October 17, 2011 at the Bank’s Water Street Branch.

The winners were Mr. Barry Singh of the Anna Regina Branch who won the First Prize of $1,000,000; Ms. Gillion Dyer  a customer of Camp Street Branch, winner of the Second Prize of $600,000 and Mr. Dereck Antoo, the Third Prize winner of $400,000 is a customer of the Vreed-en-Hoop Branch.

The winners were randomly selected from 600 customers who were eligible to participate in the draw. Customers became eligible upon the approval of their Deal on Wheels car or motor cycle loan.

Republic Bank’s Deal on Wheels allows customers to obtain special concessions on car and motor cycle loans. This year the campaign was held during the period June 01, to August 31, 2011. Republic Bank wishes to take this opportunity to thank all those customers who participated in this year’s Deal on Wheels campaign.
