Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited, through its Power to Make a Difference (PMAD) programme, partnered with the Vurlon Mills Football Academy (VMFA) to host its first-ever Girls Football Camp.

The three-day camp, held from August 14–16 at the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Training Centre, Providence, brought together girls from across the country, in a supportive environment, designed to strengthen their football skills, build confidence, and promote teamwork.

Vanessa Thompson, Manager, Planning & Financial Control, Republic Bank, in her remarks stated, "Republic Bank is delighted to be a proud sponsor of the Girls Football Camp. Over the course of the camp, the young girls will be developing skills, making new friendships, and showing just how strong and powerful girls in football can be. When girls are given the right opportunities, there is no limit to what they can achieve."

Founder and Director of the Academy, Vurlon Mills, expressed gratitude to Republic Bank for its support, describing the camp as "a bold step in advancing female participation in sport and creating a platform where diversity, opportunity, and excellence are celebrated."

The Girls Football Camp reinforced the goals of Republic Bank’s Power to Make a Difference programme, empowering youth, promoting gender equity, and fostering stronger communities, while supporting VMFA’s mission of nurturing young athletes through discipline, inclusivity, and leadership development. Together, the partnership underscored the commitment to nation building and its belief in the transformative power of sport to inspire positive change.
